Going from CE to CL

Post by Forrest Chapman »

Sometimes when working in layout I need to go to cab editor and design a cabinet. It would be nice to be able to take it direct into the layout instead of saving it.

Just add first to custom lay out the seed cabinet from wich you will design your new cabinet.
Second, take that seed cabinet to CE, and edit the cabinet.
Third, return to room.

That is how I think most would do it however there are a few issues with that most notably that if you associate any parts to it they will not go back with it. So maybe that is a separate issue. Also for some reason I find myself jumping over to CE and loading a cab then doing all my mods and sizing it with the intention of taking it into the room only to have to save it first.

Forrest,

What parts do not go back with a cabinet taken from the Custom Layout and returned? I tried several different parts (display object, display panel, display cube, display board, display door, display molding, and a display drawer box) and as long as I associate the item to the cabinet, it will return.

Scott, I'll try that again but I did have it associated and still no go.

Forrest,

Sounds good. Maybe it is an order of steps thing that you do diff. from me. If you can isolate it, we will fix it.

Scott, I stand corrected. I guess the first time I took a cabinet back with applied parts something was up with my graphics because the parts did not show. When I reopened the job the parts showed.
