Problem Profiling!!!!

Open the attached Display Panel (.esa file) in the cab editor
Take it to the part editor
click Profile Edge
Choose Chain
Click on the upper right hand corner for starting position
Choose the attached tool
Enter a depth of -1 3/16
Click Apply
Click OK
The part profiles properly

Open the part in the cab editor again
Take it to the part editor
Click Profile Edge
Choose Partial
click on the same upper right hand corner for start
click on the lower right hand corner for end
Choose the attached tool
enter a cutting depth of -1 3/16
click apply
Click OK

the software crashes

Did anyone have any better luck with this?

I have a different version of this part made from a cabinet back instead of a display board and it doesn't crash the software but will not cut using either chain or partial. I get this error no matter what I try.

The Part Editor and the Profile Modeler are a big part of what I want to accomplish using CNC. I would like to understand them both . They both seem very finicky. I need some rules and much more detailed documentation. I need to be able to draw a part, profile it and cut it in at least the same day.
I don't think the Profile Modeler is the problem, I think it is the part editor and how it handles tools created using the shape manager. I badly need this to work first time every time.

Here is the other part. Use the same tool.

I thought maybe the radius on the corners was too tight so I tried a little 1/4" round nose bit and still get the sweep operation error.

I have also tried leaving the geometry on the part for the tool path ionstead of an edge but that also did not work.

I seem to have these type problems with evrything I try in the Part Editor. I finally get the job done but it takes a lot of messing around with tool design etc. to get a part that will cut on the machine. Way too much time involved.

I just can't get it to select the cut path. The partial will only select two edges. I can select all the straight edges using single. I have tried making a DXF and cutting out a board, but no luck getting around the curved portions.

As time goes on it gets easier. Look at the file size of your tol. file. and compare it to file size of other tol. files you have created and ran successfully. Large tol file size equals large part file size equals Crash. even if you are successful in making this part in ECab it will Crash in the profile modeler and then you don't know where the problem is.
I have more experience in profiling than in any other area of ECabinets.
Being able to take a part back into part editor is a test. if you can not take it back into part editor it will not run in Profile modeler. 9 times out of 10 the problem will trace back to the original DXF file used to create the tol. Start breaking it up into smaller regions. I've offered you my phone number and email in the past but you have not taken advantage of it. 810 310 1111

My tools are all created using the Shape Manager. There should not be a problem. (I did not use a spline for this particular tool it is two arcs to create the ogee)

The tool file is 14KB

Did you look at my parts and tool from this thread? Why does the tool work performing a chain operation and not a partial operation on the same part? From your experience what do you see wrong with this tool or this part?

Just tried profiling my part using one of the stock Amana tools that is with the eCabinets Software.
Chain operation works fine, a partial operation crashes the software.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I started from scratch this morning on the part and the tool and get the same results. No problems creating part and no problems creating tool, it is just the interaction of part and tool when I try to profile the part.
I hope to hear from Thermwood. I sure would like to make some progress on this.

Strange How? You might be getting the back side of the tool I posted. I created a symmetrical tool but I can't get it to work either. I still get an instant crash of the software.

I was able to apply the cutter you posted by removing all of the fillets (all corners where 90 deg.) Although I had to recreate the part.It seams that the problem may have something to do with the fillets or arcs.When I apply fillets to the inside corners the software crashes.When I apply fillets to the outside corners I get cannot preform sweep op.No fillets every thing works fine.

The first time I brought your part into part Editor it displayed from left to right and i could do a partial but it looked like the tool was off the part and cutting a 1/8 x 1 3/16 rebate into the part
The next time I brought your part into PE it displayed top to bottom and if i follow your instructions it crashes ECabinet
I never make a symmetrical Cutter and I never design my parts or tools in Ecabinets
