HOOPS problem with new computer

Post by Dave McPherson »

Hi Everyone,
I tried looking thru the forum for an answer and nothing seemed to work. I am hoping someone might be able to help me

I just replaced my existing computer with a new CPU and reloaded ecabinets.
I can access my existing cabinet database. (The data base is on our network), which i change under user data path in settings/preferences. When i try and save anything (new or existing) i get the following errors in this order:

"An error occurred while adding HOOPS information to the save file"

"there was a problem reading the HSF"

"Problem loading single cabinet"

I tried un checking the HOOPS display list in the settings/preferences
I also checked all the user rights on the folders

The specs to my new computer are
Windows 7 Pro
Intel 2.90 GHZ
16 GB RAM
64bit operating system
NVIDIA Quadro 2000 1GB (all drivers are up to date)

Any help of suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
Can you post a job or cabinet file(s) that you're having trouble with - or is this happening to everything you're trying to save? Does it happen if you attempt to save a job on your desktop?
I don't know if e-cab's will work across a network, but someone else might know more.

Hi,
We currently, have 5 people using ecabinets in our office and we have two CNC machines. We have been sharing files over our network for the past 2 years. We all can access each other cabinets and assemblies over the network. it has been working great!

Since, i got the new computer yesterday. i can see and open all the files. i just can not save anything (new or existing) either to my desktop, network or C: drive. The 4 other guys have no probelms.

Thanks,
Dave

Great to know - I had never tried that.
As far as your new computer goes, well, hopefully TWD can chime in, this one is probably beyond my expertise.
Are the other machines in the office all running Win7 also or are they running XP?

Thanks Josh!
The other guys all have windows 7 Pro. I upgrade from XP to windows 7 Pro

I just had one of the guys open one of my files, he had no problems. I tried open the same file after him and i still get the HOOPS error.

Thanks,
Dave

OK, I'm stumped. I know a little less than nothing about networking and operating system issues - sorry!

It sounds like the network share permissions are not set correctly. If you open the network share from Windows Explorer, can you create or copy any type of file to it? If not, you have permission problems.

Hi Rick,
I can create and share over the network drive thru windows explorer. Attached is a screen shot, i was able to create a .txt file with in the folder and view/edit. Should i uninstall ecabinets and try to reinstall?

I can open the files in ecabinets, change the size and finishes. When i try and save, even to my desktop i get the "HOOPS" error

Thanks,
Dave

You might want to try going to C:\ProgramData\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems\temp\ directory and deleting any Temp*.tmp files.
