Problem Making Arched Rail in Part Editor

Post by Steven David »

I'm trying to cut an arch in the part editor on the top rail of an arched cabinet. In the attached pic I have already used the closed contour feature to cut through the bottom of the rail. When I create another closed contour and select it to cut through I get the message that it can't do it because the part will be cut in two pieces. I'm don't understand how this is any different than the first cut through operation, and would like to figure out how to make the top rail an arch.

Any help is much appreciated.

Your creating 2 pockets and removing. Why not draw the shape and select "create part" as 1 operation?

No reason other than I'm not advanced enough using the program to know any better :D

I did figure out how to create the part doing what I was doing by cutting away the top section first; for some reason I could do that and then cut away the inside of the arch without getting that message; though I wasted several hours of my time fooling with it :wall:

Did you try the "create part" method also?
