Suggestions on how to drill three sets of shelf pin holes

Post by Carmen Addamo »

Closet project where it is necessary to drill three rows of holes. How do i set up for the center row (for adjustable hanging rod) at a specific distance from the front (or it could be referenced from the back) edge. I would also like to drill uprights that do not actualy contain adjustable shelves.

I did make a pattern in part editor but I don't want to have to click 150 holes when using "cut pocket using closed contour" on every cabinet side that needs this detail.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

maybe set it up as hinge hole pattern and add a door as a phantom part?

Is there a reason you cannot use shelf pin holes? You can mark the shelves as Phantom parts and they wont cut.

When in Part Editor, the Windows shortcut Control + A works to select all geometry.

There is a setting for adding a center row under Add Shelf settings using the apply shelf hole settings

Yes, but I don't believe you can specify the location from the front or back edge. It only palces the holes centered between the front and rear holes.
I also don't know what the "single row option" is yet. No time right now to play around

For the middle row, add a second 'phantom' shelf. Set one of the rows to be off of the part (-3mm), set the other row where you need it to be.

Hi Carmen. Here is an upper frameless cabinet I drew using a phantom adj. shelf using the single row option. You can check out the construction settings to see how I set it up. Hope this helps.

Thanks Clint, This is AWESOME! To elaborate for others wanting to use this.

1- Right click and select "cut/pocket using closed contour" 1st.
2-Then hit "ctrl A"
3-Voila!!
