Posting a cabinet

Post by Carmen Addamo »

I would like to cut dados in the rear stretcher legs for the 1/2" back. Ecabs only allows me a front and rear view so I can't use any kind of straight cutter. I have done it using a slot cutting bit and the profile edge option but that performs a cut down the entire length of the piece and I need to stop the dado 7" from the bottom of the leg. Any suggestions.

Sorry for a delay in response. You can create a contour line to run the profile down. You are not limited to edges of parts to sweep profiles. Once you create edges, you can offset the bottom edge up the 7", then trim the length of the line to that line. Depending on the direction you want to cut, when you try to sweep the contour line, you may need to extend the top of the contour line up a little (something like .005"). Then you can zoom in tight to that spot and pick the contour line rather than the edge of the part.

This is all provided I understood you correctly. Screenshot below.
