Measure

Post by tim lucas »

Sure would be nice if we could measure things in the custom layout area. I need to locate plumbing in the floor located from the walls, I am using a display cube for the plumbing as no pipes in custom layout.

Thanks
Tim

Tim,

Take the Standard Base Frameless and delete all the parts except the back.
I changed the back to a Do Not Cut material
Make the cabinet 3/4" wide and 3/4" Deep
I make my cabinet 42" tall so it will show through cabinets.
Save this as 3/4 Pipe (you can create a 1" material or 2" material if you want a different size pipe.
Place this cabinet in a room and associate it to the two walls you want to measure from.
You can now go to elevation views and move the pipe into place in the room. (make sure you are in free style alignment)
You can now select that Pipe Cabinet in custom layout and mouse over any wall and see the location measurements.
Remember this will be measuring to an edge of the Pipe Cabinet not the center.
