Feature Change Request

Post by Donald Thomson »

When running the Cutlist model for a job, I output to Excel then do some editing. For 5-piece doors, drawers and user panels, would it be possible to change the output to Excel so that the Top and Bottom rail are together and the Left and Right stile are together?

Currently it lists Top Rail, Right Stile, Bottom Rail and then Left Stile. It would be more convenient from a cutlist organization perspective to have Rails and Stiles grouped together.

Nothing real big but very helpful.
Sincerely,

Don,

I'll pass your request along to the software engineers.

You may look into writing a script, or possibly finding someone who can create one for you. The script should be able to accomplish what you are wanting to do, as well as may be able to do the additional work you already do. The script could possibly change it so that instead of 15 minutes of editing, you click a button and its all done for you.

I used to be good at writing VBA scripts for Office products. I've been out of it for awhile. Maybe I could commission someone here?

Donald,

I might be able to help you. I've been doing VB and VBA programming for quite some time. Perhaps you could send me your spreadsheet and I can take a look.

Donald. What version of excel are you running? If you are running 2016 or higher or are running 2010,2013 and have the power query add-in installed this can be done easily without any VBA code. If you would like to contact me I will be glad to help you with this.
Scott.
