Strange issue in Room layout

Post by Jeff Blewitt »

Last night I had a partially finished moch-up design for a comercial bar that was 1/2 done, so I saved it to disk and brought it up on my laptop at home. I finished the last 2 assemblies (Bar tops) and placed them in the room. When I tried to adjust palcement, the software wouldn't change the Move Increment Value. I got tired of messing with it and saved it. When I brought it up this morning, my bar cabs & tops are missing from the layout. I tried to save & reopen again after adding them, and same result. Can't change the Move Increment Value, and My Bar Cab assemblies are missing.

I'm stumped

Jeff

Open a YIM session and we can chat about what you are trying to do.

All I can see is the back bar and uppers, lights, and display cube in the right corner. Tried restore all with no luck.

We got this straightened out.

Jeff had copied backup files from his office computer to a CD and restored them to his home computer.

Apparently his anti-virus software changes files copied from a CD to read-only and he couldn't rewrite them. Changing the permissions took care of the problem.

The question for Thermwood though is, why was he not getting any error messages when he tried to change the move increment or save the job file?

both the job file and ecabinets.ini were read-only.

For me, EVERY file that is read or transferred from a CD becomes \"read only\" regardless of what it was when burned (Win2K).
Is that not the case in other windows versions? I just got used years ago to globally change the properties of any files transferred by CD...
