creaitng hole patterns for thing other than hardware

Post by Roger Erismann »

I know how to use the hole pattern editor....however I wanted to create hole patterns and then associate them to display panels....not for hardware...is this possible?

What is that other file extension when trying to save?

Thanks

Roger

You can create the hole pattern in Contour Mode of the Part Editor and save the geometry as an x_t file. You can then use that file for placing the same hole pattern on other parts.

After reading your post in the CNC forum, I realized what you want to do Roger.

It is going to be so easy you will kick yourself for dreading it

Take one of the existing parts with the holes into Contour Mode of the Part Editor. Right-click and choose Create Edges from the context menu.

Save the geometry as an x_t file and use it over and over and over again.

That's all there is too it. :D

That is an often overlooked feature but once you use it you never forget it because it makes life so much easier.

Okay Dan that was easy money,

Can the CNC use the .x_t files? in other words can I save the whole paterns and use them at the CNC without actually making a .twd file?

I don't know for sure but I would say that you can't.
