Hi,

I just installed the software. I have some very simple designs (simple headboard) that I would like to do so I can better learn how o use the software. Since a headboard is not a cabinet and it seems that I can only start a design using a \"seed\" cabinet design, how do I get started designing a headboard? What is my starting point or seed?

(and where is the spell check or the forum?)

John,
There seems to be two common approaches. One is to use display boards and display cubes that are taken into the part editor and shaped to suit. These have to be positioned individually to create a whole unit and can be time-consuming.

The second is to use a standard wall cabinet without a face frame. Reset the cabinet depth to whatever thickness you want the headboard to be, removing the deck and top if the thickness is too shallow. The pieces remaining can be taken into the part editor for shaping and the unit can be saved as a cabinet. You can add a face frame if you wish.

I use the second method for creating wall paneling sections. I can add rails and stiles anywhere to create a nice \"Judge's Chamber\" type paneling section. You can see one I am building now at http://peterwalshbookcases.com/beingbuilt.htm. The whole wall was done in eCab.

Good luck on this.

John

It didn't work for me either but if you click at the one in his sig it will work. Then click on the Being Built tab and you will see it. The problem is the period after the link.....it has become part of the link.

Or use this one

People like Paul Ford or Thom Davies from New Zealand (or the bird) (well, I guess the fruit can't fly either unless someone from Oz tosses it at someone from NZ  ) :joker:
