Starting a new design from scratch

Post by Geo Noeth »

I am designing a tall table with some bar stools for chairs. I always hear that you start with a cabinet then delete un needed parts and build from there. My question is, is there any reason why I cannot just build the entire project from display boards and save as an assy.

Also does anyone know of a source for teak? How much per bd. ft.?

Hey Geo
Before I learned to delete cabinet parts, I did a lot of work from scratch with display boards and panels. Nothing wrong with that method other than it much slower and is not resizeable. However, for some custom designs it is the only way. Here is a simple TV surround designed from display boards. Took me half a day to do it this way. Would have been much faster if I had known about using a cabinet and deleting parts. As for Teak, Atlanta Wood Products usually carries it and price varies. I don't have their number handy and I suppose you need a NC supplier.

Good luck with your design
Mike
