Just a ? and a thought....

Post by Jerrod Williams »

Hello everyone. I was designing an entertainment center with an electric lift in it. I was begining to do the lid and something occured to me. If I wanted to portray it open I would have to tilt it on its x axis and then push it back a bit as though it were really hinged. I wondered if others had wanted to do the same with cabinets or if there eas indeed a handy way to do this.I only looked through a few rendered jobs but it seemed none of them had any doors to their cabinets open.

So I guess my question is: Is there any way to get doors to swing as if they were hinged? If not, then here is my thought: In my opinion, when presenting jobs to the customer with no doors open to reveal the insides, it seems a little too plain. Wouldn't it add a touch of depth and realism if a member could add hinges and get the door to behave as though it were?

Anyways it was just a thought. Great job on the software. My appreciation to those who made it happen.

Jerrod,

If you are asking how to display a cabinet with open doors, I do it all the time.
The way I do it is to create a second version of the cabinet with the door open and load it into the custom layout instead of the origional.

The second version is created in the main cabinet editor.
Load the cabinet
Delete the door that you want open
Load the door using the load item(folder icon) not via the door / drawer editor
Rotate the droor to where you want it with using \"rotate item\" on the right click menu
move it into position then save as an assy
