When I contacted Dell to find out how to run seperate programs on each monitor, they told me this wasn't possible with the M90. The 512mb nvidia 2500 would do this, but the M90 wouldn't. They said I could only clone on the 2nd monitor...
I added the color for emphasis.

Gene,

Does this mean that you did NOT get the 512 MB NVIDIA 2500M graphics display card when you bought the M90? I am guessing they meant that the stock graphics card would NOT do this. But I really don't know what the stock card is.

The standard video card is the nVidia Quadro FX1500M with 256MB and you can get it with FX2500M or FX3500M, both with 512MB.

I don't think you are wrong at all, Gene! But I do think that the guy who sold you the laptop did not know the system well enough. I believe someone already has highlighted this issue here on the forum - the sales people do sales, don't always have the technical and/or support background, and therefore are not too savvy when it comes to the more technical stuff.

Thanks, Dan.

I am not sure which card Gene Kimmi has. Will the FX1500M support dual monitors? This WILL help Gene to set it up the way he wishes. I looked it up at the NVIDIA web site, but could not find the information about support for dual monitors.

The nVidia website just doesn't say whether any of the cards will support multiple monitors.

The Dell web site states that the nVidia Quadro FX 1500M DOES support dual monitors. You can view the specifications at this Dell page.

Gene Kimmi:
You should be in business, if you got the nVidia FX 1500M graphics card in your laptop.

Al,

I guess you just can't take a tech's word as gospel. I finally had time today to mess with this some more and I did get the dual monitor feature to work. I guess I shouldn't be so afraid to just click on things and see what they do.

Thanks to everyone for the help and input. Next time I have a computer question, I'll ask here first.

Gotta go, on the way to Branson for the weekend.
