Bar Backs and End Panels

Has anyone else done this?
I used just the face frame of a cabinet then added keystone drawer fronts from Conestoga with a 9/16 inset and a -3/16 gap to make a paneled bar back. After looking, I think a number 10 drawer front would look more like a raised panel.

These are resizable to fit any cabinet. The only thing I couldn't get done was changing the grain direction on the bottom panels.

I have been associating doors to cabinets (trying to overlap them the right amount) to look like panel backs and end panels and just had this idea. It will be much faster now.

Hey Gene, try slab doors on the bottom, that might work.

Gene,
Use the MDF doors and you an assign an edge profile to make your panels. ( I created a cove pattern, You can use half of the asymmetrical patterns in the system to make your panel raise.) You can add the extra width and height to your panels to make them cut right and you can also add negative insets to your face frame rails to match your cutters (3/8\" or 1/2\") to make that cutlist correct.

Great idea Gene!

Possibly you can create another material with the jpeg image rotated 90 deg. And make a drawer front from that.

Maybe the Thermwood team would include a drawer front grain direction feature for this issue.

Michael,
I wondered if Thermwood could make it possible to select a door with no frame. Now you can select a door as frame only, this would just be opposite. Then you could have all the panel options on bar backs and end panels.

What are the panels made from Doors or Drawers?

If they are doors, the cut list will account for the style and rails.

That looks great for a presentation. I am trying to design something that will give me an accurate cut list for all the parts. I can set a negative inset on the top rail, bottom rail, and mid styles and rails and get this. I will just have to remember to change the bottom panels width and length around when building.

I may use your idea to create an accurate looking presentation and change it after approval for cutting. I would just have to delete the doors and add the drawer fronts. Thanks.
