Creating a curved raised panel tutorial
I have placed a video tutorial on creating a curved raised panel in the Downloads section of the eCabWorld Member's Lounge.
It is a large (11MB+) download but will give you a good idea of just how flexible the Part Editor is...IF you give some thought to how it works.
Please rate and comment on this tutorial (in the Downloads section) after you download and view it.

In the eCabWorld forum...Shop Talk -> eCabWorld Discussions.
The type comments I would like to see are:
Was it helpful?
Is it accurate?
Was it easy to use/follow?
Is it complete or does it need more information?
What other areas need to be covered?

Re: Creating a curved raised panel tutorial
I just added starter threads for each video tutorial in the download section and a "wish list" thread for what members would like to see in future tutorials. You can add your comments there. If I forget to add a starter thread for a new tutorial, please feel free to add it yourself.

Re: Creating a curved raised panel tutorial
Nice work Dan. Having the guy with the southern accent do the narrating was also a nice touch.
I used to work for Westinghouse Technical Training north of Baltimore. My boss's name was Billy Jay. Billy was from South Carolina, but had no accent, and he did some of the narrations for the training videos. One day I heard him talking on the phone and he had a heavy southern accent. When I asked him about it, he replied, "I was talking to my momma. If I didn't speak like that she wouldn't understand me." He was a very entertaining guy, especially when we traveled in the south together on business.

You've got a good voice for narration there Dan, and a well done presentation.

I'm glad you liked it. I hope it helps folks understand some of the things you can do with the Part Editor if you are willing to step back and think about how it works. I must admit though, I was trying to recreate the curved raised panel I did a year or so back and it gave me fits trying to understand the instructions I posted in the forum. I decided that if I had that much trouble with my own instructions, I better record it when I figured it out so I wouldn't forget again.
Everyone:
What kind of other things would be helpful in this format?
Was there anything in this video that was unclear? If so, what and how can I improve it?
Is the length of the video about right for future demos? (around 3 minutes with sound was 12MB!!! a Flash FLV file of the same presentation is only 5.27MB and plays in Internet Explorer)
I'm am experimenting with placing the video on eCabWorld to be played in your browser--is this a good option or is the download better?

Re: Creating a curved raised panel tutorial
Dan, I would say your on the right track. I looked at a couple of the others and the constraint manager did not have any sound??? I was curious if there wasn't any or if its on my end.

Re: Creating a curved raised panel tutorial
No, it didn't have any. I was experimenting with callouts on that one.
Which works better--narration or callouts (ain't doing both )?

Re: Creating a curved raised panel tutorial
Dan,
Great job on both the constraints manager and curved panel videos. I'll keep them around and refer to them for a long time, I'm sure.
Regarding narration or call outs, the narration works best for me.
Great job!

Thanks Dan, now I know it wasn't my computer. I like the Narration better as well. Keep up the good job.
