Brian,
After you select the two things that you are trying to align, click on the node you want stationery first (it will turn blue) then click on the node of the piece you want moved second (it will be red).

The align items icon works as such. You double click on the cabinets you want to align, make sure the cabinets are highlighted then click on the align items icon. Select the corner of the cabinet (cabinet 1) you want the other cabinet to align to, a blue node will display. The cabinet with the blue node is the cabinet that will not move. When you move the mouse over the other cabinet’s corner (cabinet 2) a red node will display, click on that corner and notice the line between the two cabinets. Then click on the align items icon, click align to zero, and cabinet 1 will stay fixed in place while cabinet 2 aligns to cabinet 1. Now for the third cabinet, you can do it two ways. First unselect cabinet 1 and follow the steps above for cabinets 2 and 3. Second would be to pick your corner on cabinet 3 first, blue node displays and then select the corner of cabinet 2, red node displays. Click on the align items icon and align to zero. Cabinets 1 and 2 will now move to cabinet 3.
