Dimension a Room

Post by Larry Blair »

I am just getting started with eCabinet and love it.

I have created a room and would like to put dimensions in the drawing i.e. width, length distance between windows etc.

Is there a way to do that?

Thanks

Larry,
You will have to take your layout \" Line Draw editor\" There you will be
able to add dimensions for your job.

Sorry to say you can't dimension to doors and windows in the line drawing editor. You can however, dimension to cut outs in the walls. So even if I'm planning to put a window or door on a wall, I ususally cut out the wall so I can place dimensions to it.

Aside from being able to dimension to openings that are cut from walls there's another major advantage to working with holes instead of just images. Using display boards you can then easily put door and window casing in the openings and then add doors, trim, and windowsills:

Thus adding yet another layer of realism to presentations... 8)

I know this is an old topic, but I'm not having any luck with being able to make windows or doors so I can put dimensions with them in the line drawing editor. Any help?

Lee are you using the pre-set doors & windows or wall cutouts?

The only cut outs I find are in the items to place. I tried those, but was unable to dimension to them. I don't know if that was the right cut out or not.

Being a throwback to a few generations, what does that mean in laymans terms? And I still don't know how to make wall cutouts.

Lee what I meant by wall cut outs, did you edit any walls in the wall editor ie; door openings or windows? Those can be dimensioned in the line draw editor.

Thanks, Mike. Yes I finally figured it out. Now if we can get them cracken' on v5.2 life will become a little easier.
