Drawer box problem

Post by Gary Urlacher »

I am having a problem with the blind datos on drawer boxes
and I have spent a whole day on this with no results.

The problem I am having is that the fit on the dato is way off.
The material I am using is 5/8 thick. my settings are
50% of material, .375 depth, .03 depth clearance and
.0125 for fit clearance.

These settings work on the cabinets but not on the drawers.
I deleted all the drawers and started over again with these settings.

Each and everytime I cut them, the fit clearance is way off.
I am measuring about .04 for clearance.

This is not related to saved cabinets as I can go to the CNC from the drawer box
editer and same thing. I have been over everything I can think of including tool measurments
but it will not do the fit that is does for cabinets even with all settings the same.

If anyone has some insight, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

I found a work around. It seems there is a known issue with version 5.2 and this problem.
After many hours and sheets of material, the following settings seem to work.

Depth - .375, depth clearance - .03, fit clearance .02, % of material - 42%.
as soon as you come close to 50% it goes way off.

If you use 30% then you run into a tool issue.

I hope there is indeed a patch in the works for this.
and I also would love to see a part editer for drawer boxes.

Cheers
