Glass/Mirror Settings
Hi Guys
Just wondered if anyone had a list of the different settings for different shades of glass and mirror settings and so on. At the moment I am going through and working it out, but would be very helpfull if someone has a list of some sort made up. such as clear glass 160,255,255.
Thanks
Leigh Mills

Re: Glass/Mirror Settings
Red Glass = 170,0,0
Blue Glass = 0,0,170
Green Glass = 0,170,0
Turquoise Glass = 0,170,170
Purple Glass = 170,0,170
Clear Glass = 170,170,170
The higher the number, the lighter the shade.
Here is a link to a color scheme generator. Select which color you want, then transfer the numbers to the "Display Part Editor". This is just a basic generator, you may be able to find others with different palletes.

Hopefully this helps!

Re: Glass/Mirror Settings
You will probably only be able to "Render" a reflection in the Layout editor" presentation view.
Remember a mirror is a piece of glass and a backer. The Backer is the reflective source. So when creating a mirror you will want to create 2 pieces of material. The "backer" being a white reflective material. And the "glass" which is the transparent material.
I would create you surfaces in the cabinet editor. Make the material you will be using for the glass thin (.125 max thickness. The thicker the material the blurrier the reflection.)
Save and open in the "Display part editor".
Right click on the parts you would like to change. (Notice the "Number of part" field changes when clicking on different parts).
Select the backer material and make the following setting changes.
R,G,B = 255,255,255
transmission on = unselected
Gloss = max
Specular = max
Mirror = max
Gouraud = selected
No mapping = selected
Glass Front
R,G,B = 170,170,170
transmission on = selected
Gloss = max
Specular = max
Mirror = min
Gouraud = selected
No mapping = selected
When rendering click the "presentation settings" button and select "Ray traced".
Then select "presentation view" to render your layout.
After the render is complete, Right click on the mirror. Adjust the shine to 100%
then re-render. Note: Make sure the "Enhanced View" Button is selected.
Adding lights will help with brightening the reflected image. But can also cause a shadow to be cast on the mirrored object. So just play with the light placement.
Hopefully this help.
If anyone has an eaiser or more efficient way to do this, please post!

Re: Glass/Mirror Settings
Here is how I do mirrors. I use a display cube 1/4" thick and the size I want for the mirror. Use the black melamine in my solid colors for the image. When you render this, set the shine for the display cube at 100%. Someone posted this tip a year or 2 ago, and it works very well.

Re: Glass/Mirror Settings
To make a mirror I use a display cube (usually 1/4" thick) and then bring a stainless steel sink in and copy the texture from it. You can keep the shine at zero and it will still be a mirror.
