Lid/Top for pop-up TV cabinet

Post by Joe Harkin »

Designing an entertainment wall with a center cabinet to house a pop-up flat panel TV.
Any ideas on how to design the cabinet top with a himged cutout (door) for the TV ?
Thinking maybe I need to do the top as a face frame with wide stiles/rails, and a
flush inset door that hinges up...any other ideas ? :?

Could you show us what you have made so far. On each side of the TV

I'll try to plug in the files for the designs I've got so far. Changed the TV cabinet top last nite, to be a face frame with flush flat door which will either hinge at the back or be attached to the lift mechanism and rise with the TV. Any better ideas I'd like to hear them. My way is an assembly with the faceframe/door aligned to the top of the cabinet.

If you're interested here's a screenshot of the wall with the cabinets. That's a floating mantle between the bookcases and a made-up cabinet simulating the flat-panel TV below it.
