Knobs and Pulls

Post by Gary Puckett »

Is there any way to tell witch pulls and Knobs have an image ? You look and look for the Pull / knob pull up the cabinet put in the location for the Knob/Pull then you find out no image available.

Is there a way to cut some corners to speed this process up?

Gary unless you just have to, I would stay away from the knobs/pulls. They will slow your computer down.

I think most of the Classic Brass, Hafele and Wood Technology pulls have 3-D images. I don't think there are currently any renderings for the Amerock pulls. If the pull has a 3-d drawing associated with it you will see the "Click for 3D Preview" on the page with the pulls information. I always place pulls on my cabinets. If you have a decent computer the speed is not that big a problem. Plus, it gives your customers a more realistic image. It also helps me to have a count of the pulls I will need with a good idea what they will cost me.

Do they all make your computer run slow, or just the very detailed ones?
Also is this a problem that will be fixed or is it the nature of the beast?

Thanks

Gary,
I noticed after the last build update that one of the handles that I use a lot would triple the file size of any cabinet or job I was working on. It is the Hafele 10433300 zinc handle in black matte. I had a job that was so large of a file that I couldn't do any editing of anything. I started deleting cabinets thinking one of them was messed up, but nothing worked. Finally, I decided to change handles on the whole job and it went from a 23.8 mg file to a 7.8 mg file.

Gary, Your computer is having to regenerate the display items everytime and it increases the file size so large that it does take a bit longer to process. I normally just add a pull or knob to maybe one or two cabinets rather than the entire room so I can show the customer some different ideas. Most customers don't really know what type of hardware they want until the cabinets are installed and they can stand back and look at them. I usually take a sample board with me after the cabinets have been installed so the customer can look at them up against the cabinets and then decide. Its easier that way for me because I don't have to worry about returning anything should the customer change their mind after getting the cabinets in place.
