Importing from excel

Post by Patrick Russell »

Does anyone every use excel spreadsheets to import cabinets sizes from someone that doesn't use e-cab, and if you do, how do you go about doing that?

Patrick,
Here is a link to the excel spread sheet format. It is a .BMP file. You will only be able to cut out square or rectangular panels with this feature. Open the link and review the format. If you have any questions let me know.

To load this file onto the control...
First, you will need to open Control nesting.
Then, select the "load" button.
Next, On the right hand column, find the "Excel Files" load button.
Select load, and browse for the file. Load file
Nest and write CNC.

Patrick,
If you are having trouble opening the file through the link, the same information is located on the Controller.

Control Nesting>Load>Excel files
Then click on the question mark to the right of the "ADD" button.

Patrick,
Sorry, I misread your email. I assumed you had one of our machines

Here at Thermwood we maunfacture CNC machines. We have also developed Ecabinet Systems to work directly with our machines. And one of the features on our machines, lets you load up Excel files and cut them.

But as for loading Excel files into Ecabs, I don't think it is possible.

This is straight from the help file section in ecabinets, you can import a batch of cabinets this way. Check the helpfile as it has a great screenshot of the format the excel file needs to be in

Add Data Using Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets

A properly formatted Excel spreadsheet can be used to input cabinets and/or assemblies to the Batch. In the Excel file, provide the file name of the cabinet or assembly, the directory where the file is stored, the type ("cabinet" or "assembly"), the quantity of the cabinet or assembly you want and the height, width, & depth if you are loading a cabinet.

Note: Height, width and depth values are ignored for assemblies.

The required column headings and format for the data is as follows:

Name - This is the file name of the cabinet or assembly.

Directory - This is the directory where the file is stored.

Type - Use either the word “cabinet” or “assembly”.

Quantity - This is the quantity of the cabinet or assembly desired.

Height - This is the height of the cabinet (does not apply to assemblies).

Width - This is the width of the cabinet (does not apply to assemblies).

Depth - This is the depth of the cabinet (does not apply to assemblies).

New Name - This is an optional field for a new description of the cabinet

Also, notes or comments can be added to the right of the data, if it is prefaced with the "//" characters.

Press the Import Batch from Excel button, select your Excel file ("*.xls"), and then press Open, and your file will be entered into the Batch.
