Blind Corner Cabinet

Post by Steve Detina »

OK guys, don't know what I am doing wrong but maybe someone can help. I take a standard corner cabinet and then reduce the front width to a 0.001 larger then the thickness of the material that I am using. What happens next is what is interesting. It reduces the front width but then flips the tennon on both the top and the bottom sides. This creates a flip operation for both the top and bottom of the cabinet. I end up with a top that has the tennon on the top on the left and on the bottom on the right. I have attached a copy of the cabinet.

thanks in advance.

I see what you mean. I must first say that this is a great idea for making a blind corner cabinet.
I have read several differant ways but I like this the best.

I have tried all I can think of to change this with no luck.

I too am looking forward to the answer.

I was able to reproduce this with a standard cabinet. I have this listed with the programmers. Does the left back need to be exactly 24.375"? If it is changed to 24.384", .009" larger it will work. Or another way would remove the blind dado from that side and take your parts to the part editor and add them in.

Justin;

If I leave .009 then the front width is .875, this creates a problem with blind corner hinges. I know that I could just take the dadoes out for that side but I would like to reduce any type of human error white trying to reproduce the tenon.

If you can email me step by step on how to build this cabinet, I can see if I can reproduce it with your steps and maybe a different solution.

I know this is a old one and I did not get back to anyone about the step on how create this cabinet but here goes.

take a standard corner framless cabinet from the std lib

first thing i do is go to construction settings and change the following values:

Global settings:
material - whatever you use
cab part construction - blind dado
blind dado tenon settings - 50%
dado settings depth - .375
dept clear - .02
fit clear - .02

Corner settings:
corner gap - 0

Deck:
select deck flush check box

Back
back constructions parameters -tennon back side
select ok
back inset - .25

Once I have made all of my changes I let ecab regenerate the box.

I then change the left front value for the cabinet to .02 larger then the material I set a default

This is when ecab reverses the tenon on me.

If I increase the value for the left front to 1" it flips the tenon back to where it should be.

Is there a fix for this?

thanks in advance.
