AVG free or what ever grade you want to pay for. I have used it for years and never had any problems. (touch wood LOL.)

Eset NOD32 Eset has been the most thorough and the least hassle for me over the last year or so. Previously I was a fan of Kaspersky Labs but they’re allowed their product to become difficult to manage for a mortal. AVG is cool but I think if it finds a virus you have to buy the pay-for version to clean the virus from your system. Norton is out of the question, it’s like a virus in it’s own right.

I’m currently using NOD32 by Eset on most of my machines and it’s been doing a good job. It doesn’t kill my PC’s performance and doesn’t needlessly bug me with stupid questions frequently.

Cheers!

What ever you do do not even think about microsoft one care

The free version of AVG will thoroughly clean viruses from your system as well as prevent them (and spyware) in real-time. You do not have to pay for anything, ever.
