Sub contracting edge banding services

Post by Dennis Palmer »

We have a customer wanting to subcontract edgebanding services (buying a new Fravol) What's the normal rate charged? Is it quoted by the linear foot? I assume the price varies depending on the type of banding?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dennis,

I had another shop edgeband a lot of white melemine for me a couple of years ago with white pvc and he charged .25 cents a foot. This included the banding and labor. I don't know if that will help you any or not.

Dennis,
I charge .25 per foot plus banding on .5mm, more thickness more money, and I charge a $75 minimum to fire it up.Anything less and it is just wearing on your machine and costing you in the long run. 3mm pvc and solid wood strips are a whole other beast...
