Nightmare in the Trophy Room! HELP!!!!

Post by Adam DAgosto »

Hello.

I know you all feel my pain, so I won't wine too much, but this is driving me crazy.

Here's the scoop.

Some guy already built the toe kicks for a group of cabinets. So the toe is actually installed on the floor. BUT, the construction is in such a way that replicating it in eCabinets is proving very difficult.

I have attached a drawing of it so you can see basically what it is supposed to look like. I manipulated the program to get it close so you'll have an idea. The joint construction of the boxes is different than the software's toe. So I tried to adjust it but I could only get the BACK to change the construction joint. I could not get the front to work and that's where things matter. SO, I adjusted the back and then rotated it around. It actually works okay and I have them sized pretty close, but I CAN NOT move them around!!!! Every time I shift them in the room to try to get them perfect, they suddenly fly off to another part of the room!!

I think the real problem is the fact that I rotated them around and now have the front as the back and the back as the front and that's screwing things up.

If you have a chance, take a look and let me know what you think I should do.

Thanks fellas.

Here is a new toe.

The front of the toe is actually a stretcher. I now have that stretcher set 3/4" forward, but now I need it to extend beyond the sides by 3" on either side.

I don't see a way to get the stretcher to "stretch".

Is there a way to do this or am I going about this all wrong and there just a better way?

Adam,

With the way you have them built you will have to place them manually using Free Style Placement. If you try to use Align to Back they will jump around.

You can create this toe by using the standard detached toe and negative insets.
Then it will place properly.

Here is the toe cabinet.

I forgot to tell you I replaced the stretcher on the front with a toe.

You can use the stretcher but in my opinion it is more difficult.

The only problem using the toe is that if you change the height of the cabinet you also have to change the toe.

Rick,

This toe kick is constructed EXACTLY the way I need. Thank you very much!

I am curious, how is it built? Is it made of stretchers or simply a cabinet that has been gutted? How did you do it?

I just need to change the global materials for it.

I did however get my backwards toe kicks to work. I'm just afraid to move them now

Thanks again.
