KD fittings on a drawer box

Post by FredHirsch »

Not sure if this goes here or in 3-Axis... Have a cabinet with a drawer box with KD fittings. Looks like nests correctly in eCabs, but when I go to router, it wants to do a flip op and the KD CAM holes are totally missing. Attached is the drawer box. Using the latest Control Nesting 5.48. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Fred,

I looked into your issue here and unfortunately it is a glitch in the KD/RTA functionality of drawer box fronts. The drawer box fronts want to make the dado as a flip operation when KD cuts exist on the part. The only work around I can think of right now is to create a cabinet that is set up just like this drawer box layout and use it to create the drawer boxes. This is resolved for version 6 and I verified it with your exact Dbx. that you attached here. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Scott,Jason,
Thank you for the reply. I just drew them up in CAD and took the DXF to the machine. Good to hear it is fixed in V6. We are doing more and more of the KD stuff and is a real opportunity for us with the machine and eCabs.
Thanks again for looking into this.

Scott, I'm having another issue with KD fittings on drawer boxes. I've modified a fitting to be a dowel and on the right side of the box I can inset the bottom dowel 1.5" and the top 1", but on the left side I can only set the insets equal. Is this the same problem as before?

Ben,

No, it is not the same issue. This is separate and I will get it listed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
