Change Joint on Detached Toe

Post by Nat Wheatley »

How would I get the front piece to extend the width of the unit? (In other words, have the side pieces die in to the back of the front piece?) The front is set up as a stretcher.

Nat,

Shorten the two side boards of the toe, and apply a 3/4 face board to the front. You then can make the face extend what ever you need.

The best way is to use the alignment icon. hold your mouse arrow on the Align Items icon and it will give you instuctions.

Sorry, I should have asked 'what is a face board/what area do I use to add it in' I haven't come across that yet. -Nat

Nat,

I am attaching a detached toe that i think does what you want.
It can re size. If you need more braces just add partitions.
If you would like detailed instructions email me at kerry@kerryfullington.com

Nat,

Gary did have a better idea.
Turn on face frames and remove all the frames except either the top rail or bottom rail (it doesn't matter which one you use) and make the face frame the height of your toe and use sheet stock instead of board stock for the frames.
this eliminates the stretcher and all the insets.

Here is an example
