Gary,

Have you ever had a job that took quite a bit longer than you expected. Did you appreciate the call every night from the customer asking "Whats the problem? How much longer is it going to take?" Don't you want to tell them "It will be done when it gets done"?

I am sure the guys at eCabinets want the release more than you or I but they also don't want to release a bad product.
They will give a report when they feel comfortable that they can give accurate info and as Nick stated above, Version 5.2 is pretty remarkable.

Kerry,

Sorry for rocking the boat, also I communicate with my clients maybe thats why I have a 0 no call back record. I tell the client the procidure in which the project will be perfomed, and when and if a problem occurs I make them aware of it. I am just one employee not a large corperation

Hi Gary,
If you are heavy user of Ecabinets and willing to give feedback on the beta version you could ask to join the beta testers. The obligation is to use the Beta versions even if they are clunky and supply step by step reports if it breaks.
If you have a Thermwood you may have to use two versions of the program 5.2 and Ver 6 for testing but use 5.2 for writing code. This does add time which being by yourself you may not be able to afford.
You need to write to Jason to put your case. Also you have to keep Mum on what the new version has.

I got around that by visiting Dan in hospital when he was coming out of the anaesthetic. The things he told me. Whew.

Regards

If software developers had their way, squeaky wheels would be the last to see new versions. Think of it like this...you have two customers. One of them lets you do your work and waits patiently for you to finish the project. The other calls you several times a day wanting to know when you will be finished. Which project are you likely to work harder on?

Within Thermwood we have a standard answer for the question “When will it be done?” The answer came from an interview with a young (and inexperienced) TV reporter interviewing stone carver working on Stone Mountain Monument outside Atlanta. They have been carving for generations. She asked him, “When will it be done?”. His answer….Tuesday. I expect the software will be done…..Tuesday!

I want the new version as much as the rest of us. I love new toys!!!!!!

Do we all like freshly baked apple pie??
I'm sure we do!!!!

We wouldn't want the pie to be removed from the oven before its fully baked no matter how much we want it.

Thanks to the folks at Thermwood for being mature enough to give us a fully baked version 6.

PS Gary, A watched pot never boils.... and asking Are we there yet? doesn't get you there quicker... :)

I've certainly not been testing it like I normally do, but with good reason... we've been busy! Been forced to stay with V5 to complete what was in the shop. I feel blessed to be as busy as we are in times like this, but it has definitely taken away most of my time to test the new release. As of today though, we're working totally within the new version, and already the new features are coming in very handy. Can't wait to see run on the router. That should be around, oh, Tuesday.
