Hi Duane,

I like the desk, there is a lot of \"tidying up\" (if that's the good expression). This desk is really usefull.....

Duane,
I'm not much of a fisherman but that is one badass desk for keeping anything organized. looks like it would be fun to build.

I love all of the storage in the desk but with my methods of filing, it would still be obscured by junk  .

Hey, Dave Norton is the person that needs to comment on this. He builds custom fishing rods (beautiful too, I might add). Although in his neck of the woods, I think the prey is probably more like bass than trout.

Actually Dan, I build as many flyrods as bass rods. We seem to ship rods all over the U.S.

And I must say that is one sweet fly tying desk ,my cousin will be red with envy! Very nice design. Now if I could just get that blankity blank bar to this stage of completion. :wall:

Dave

Post a pic of one of your fantastic rods for Duane to see. It would be the perfect complement to this desk, perhaps mounted on the wall above.

I think I have a pic somewhere of a fly-tying vise. I'll post it if I can find it and Duane can place it on the desk.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Thats where I need some more work, taking pictures of objects and inserting them into the layout. No clue how to do that.
Dave,
do you build split bamboo rods? I am just starting to get into that and tryin to collect all the tools, forms and binders to do that. If not bamboo, what kind of blanks are you using, and do you have a good supplier for cork rings?
This is starting to look like a rod builing forum that I frequent

Dan,
Can you give me some direction on how to get those pics into ecabs then put them into the layout. If its in the maual, what section would it be in. I need to go back and read the whole manual again, because I think I'm just about ready to put this software into full swing

Basically Duane, you place the image on a display cube and save it as an assembly. You can add the assembly to your presentation in the custom layout editor when you detail the room.

The images will need some editing to make the background match but it's an idea.

Make sure you \"stretch\" and not \"tile\" the image on the display cube.

Thanks Dan,
I think where I need the help is gettin the images that you posted and placing them into ecabs. Thats where I'm having the trouble. I'm not real computer literate

No problem. Just download the files and save them anywhere you like. When you create the display cube, click on the \"Select Image\" button and you can browse for your files (remember where you saved them!). Once you select the image you want, save the cube with the image. I save mine in the \"User-defined\" folder but you can create a new folder if you would like.

Before you add the image to a display cube though, you will need to edit it to make the background match your desk. Do that in your favorite image editor (I use Paint Shop Pro but you can use anything you like).

To create a display cube for the reel, for example, I used 3\" x 3\" x 1\" for the display cube. That gives the approximate size of a single-action flyreel.

Have fun and be sure to post new pics of the desk with the \"toys\" on it.

Duane, While I don't build bamboo rods I do know some of the guys that are really good at it. Sounds like you frequent Rodbuilder's .org.

Believe it or not, you can get some good deals on blanks on Ebay this time of year. Primarily I use Rainshadow blanks , but build according to a clients wishes. For \"most\" of my components I use Custom Tackle Supply in Shelbyville, TN.
