Tile Look in the Display Part Editor

Post by JohnLashuay »

Every time I take a display cube to the part editor that contains a picture, the picture gets distorted into a tiled look. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

Thanks,
John

If I'm not mistaken, the fix for this is to make sure your display cube is divisible by 4 in size.

Could be wrong though.........

Mike,

Thanks for the response!

I'll give it a try and see how that works.

An other way John, is to do what you need to do in the part editor and then, export the piece to the "display part editor" in order to adjust the finish on it!
Always depending on what kind of part it is for, since you'll have to save it after in the display object!

Hope it will help?

John,

If you are trying to apply a "stretched" image in the Display Part Editor, like a bottle label or an appliance image, it won't work.
Images in the Display Parts Editor are always tiled and are "Skewed".
This has been discussed many times through the years and finally dropped as one of those things that just can't be fixed.

Thanks all for your input!

Kerry, I was afraid you would say that it wasn't possible. I tried making an object in the part editor that was a multiple of 4 then exporting it to the display part editor, and it still came out distored and tiled. I guess I'll just continue to use the symbols as an assembly.

Bien sûr ! Vous pouvez utiliser n'importe quelle image de JPG comme une texture pour les matériels. Les dimensions du besoin d'image d'être divisibles par 4 s'il rendra convenablement.

Of course! You can use any JPG image as a texture for materials. The dimensions of the image need to be divisible by 4 so it will render properly.

Dan,

I'm not sure I understand! I downloaded a esa file off the forum and exported into the display part editor. I then scaled it a multiple of 4 and it still comes out tiled. I figured that if I save it that way, then bring it into the layout and then render it, it may render clearly without the distorted tiling, but it still came out tiled. What am I doing wrong, or should I just be satisfied with the assembly??

The multiple of 4 refers to the diminsions of a JPG file used as a texture for a display cube in the Cabinet Editor only. For example, image.jpg is 121x121 and will not display properly. If you change it to 120x120 it will display properly because both dimensions are divisible by 4.

Refer back to Kerry's response concerning skewed/tiled images in the Display Part Editor.
