Paint Question

Post by FredHirsch »

I'm doing some kids room accessories (MDF) carved up on the THM and then spray solid colors. We spray the ML Campbell Polystar and the SW Sherwood. The pastels, whites come out great. Looking for help with the Red and Blue. Typically we prime with SW Milwork Primer. The problem is the Primary Red and Blue are incredibly hard to get a consistent and not blotchy coat on. Went to a different ML Campbel dealer today and he suggested a color coat underneath a clear of the Polystar. This is a production environment and really didn't want to add another step to the process. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm attaching an image of a nightstand we do to give an idea.

Cant see why you should have any problems with consistency of finish using NC's (1K) Poly-actrathanes (2K) or AC's. I have sprayed a range of deep colours, reds & blues included without variation in tone.
