How many cabinet makers out there?

Postby David Coleman » Sun, Aug 31 2014, 9:24PM

Alright,
I have been away from the forum for a long time (wasn't sure I remembered my password :D ) and I decided to visit the customer images corner. Doesn't seem like much activity. Is this true? How many of you from the early days are still around, still building cabinets with ecab? And how is business? I have some small jobs available right now but nothing major. As we say in the Ozarks, "How y'all doin'?"

Thanks

Just joined the forum but cannot see where to create a new post. I was using ecab years ago, recently downloaded latest version but cannot get a standard cabinet to appear on main screen. I select one and it appears in dialog on left but main screen remains totally black. Paid my 25$ for video which shows selected std cab coming up on main screen right away as it is supposed to. Only thing I have done so far is enter some board and sheet stock. Do not understand how to get past this. Please someone help.

Hi Michael
The eCabinet Systems Software thread is a bit more active and would get more views than this one.
I'm no expert, but if you haven't already, you could try ticking the use graphics double buffering box which is in the settings and preferences. Somewhere to start anyway.
If that doesn't work, respond back because others will have more ideas.

Michael,

Are you in Custom Layout or the Cabinet Editor?

It sounds like you are in custom layout and if you are, when you select a cabinet you will need to mouse over the main screen where you will see a wire frame outline. you must then click to create the cabinet.

In the cabinet editor the cabinet will appear on the main screen when you select it from the library.

I would say that most of the user on here make cabinet parts in one form or the other. Their titles would be, designer, engineer, programmer, Business owner.
Most have shot right past the cabinetmaker position.

I am a one man shop. I design and build my own. I also install with the help of a part time employee. But yeah, I am a cabinet maker.

David, been using eCabs and making cabinets since 2003. I fall into Will's Owner category and so I personally haven't made too many cabinets recently. I do my fair share of programming though. And we check the Forum pretty much daily because we learn a lot from it.
