Re: Super Bowl
You should go to the game...I heard ticket prices are down about 40% this year. The most expensive on Stubhub is $9995 unless you want a luxury suite. They are going from $14,710 to $237,508 (16 people).Mike Bowers wrote:I'll tell ya, the town is a buzz right now! I'd like to check out the NFL experience this week, it looks very cool.
I don't even like football but if you get the $237,508 suite, I'll go to the game with you.

Re: Super Bowl
Well Dan, I think I'll just stick with the NFL experience, it's a lot cheaper ($20.) But if I decide to splurge for the suite, I'll give you a shout Dan....DanEpps wrote:You should go to the game...I heard ticket prices are down about 40% this year. Re: Super Bowl
I am more of a NASCAR fan. Don't spend much time watching football. I have played Australian rules football. I think I will stick to American football. Australian rules is pretty rough. Probably much like NZ.

Re: Super Bowl
My last post about "rules" reminded me of something I saw on TV several years ago.
Late one night, my wife and I were flipping channels to find something interesting to watch. We came across Major League Indoor LaCrosse, something neither of us had ever seen. After watching for a few minutes it became evident that this "sport" had absolutely no rules. Players were beating the dickens out of each other...fists, sticks, whatever...it was complete mayhem.
We kept watching and soon play was stopped for a penalty. We both thought someone must have "lost their head" or at least an arm or eye. When the referee announced the offense, it was, are you ready for this, SHOVING!!!
We couldn't believe it. Beating your opponent to a pulp is fair game, but don't push him.

Re: Super Bowl
Yes Thom, I have seen the "All Blacks" play. It is rare because rugby isn't a sport here that is readily available on TV. I would love to watch a rugby game over American Football any day!Thom Davies wrote:Have any of u guys seen a rugby game with nz playing? lol

Re: Super Bowl
Thom,
It was right around 2000, while I was in college, that I caught a few games. One of them was against England (NZ crushed them). I think another might have been against Ireland but I am not sure.
Either way, I was playing rugby in college and being that rugby is not a big sport in high school, it was all new to me. I came from playing soccer and I had no clue about this crazy sport where they don't wear any pads. Watching the "All Blacks" and any game I could find was a big help. What a game! The comradery amongst those who play rugby is like nothing I have ever seen with any other sport.
