Breakfast

Post by Rick Palechuk »

I like basted eggs on toast, covered with fresh ground pepper.

Mmmm, my breakfast that I eat every day...
Two slices of toast with a slice of cheese, lettuce, a few slices of tomato, some sliced onion with salt and ground pepper.
3 to 4 slices of bacon, a hamburger pattie or steak a baked egg (sunny side up) and 500ml of fresh juice.
I don't have lunch after all of that.
Now I am hungry!

I'll bet everyone keeps their distance after that onion for breakfast... :joker:

Dan,

Maybe a basted egg is a poached egg :?:

Dan, it's eggs fried in a pan for two minutes then a splash of water and a lid for another minute. Fried on the bottom, steamed on top. :)

Hmmm...a cross between fried and poached. I'll have to try that sometime as I love poached eggs (eggs Benedict to be precise).

Same thing that happens when you add milk to the hot roux (fat & flour) to make gravy--it sizzles. Or maybe like when you dunk a frozen turkey into a hot kettle of oil--it explodes. :joker:
