Part tabbing question.

Post by Terry Davis »

When we cutout counter top buildup with the CS45 we usually let it skin the parts then finish them up with a hand router, how do we setup control nesting to tab them instead. They are usually 2 1/2" wide by up to 120" long, what determines tab spacing, length and thickness?

Hi Terry,

The “Tab Parameters” section in the SETTINGS dialogue defines the width of the tabs, the minimum width of the part to use tabs, and the minimum length of the part to use tabs. If you set the “Part Width for Tabbing” to 5 inches, then any part that has a width smaller than 5” will be tabbed. Note that the tabbing option is typically used for Model 53 machines. Also, it is slightly different than some other Tabbing systems where the tabs will be cut loose as the adjacent part is cut out. The only way to have a skin that is left to be fully removed when machine stops cutting, would be to use the Double Pass option, leaving skin thickness.
