Reqd Tool Numbers Listed at Beginning of CNC Code

Post by barry gill »

Does anyone else have this problem?

We cut for a variety of poeple, but only have a 5 station (tool holder) machine. We do have a lot of different tools and tooling requirements to cater for customers needs.

Obvioulsy although the tools are set up and available in the tool manager and in the Control nesting Tooling setup screen, we can't have them all installed in the machine.

Therefore, when CN writes code, can Thermwood please have the tools that are required for the job listed at the beginning of the CNC Code.

This way, the operator can quickly check to ensure that those tools are actually physically available in the machine prior to commencement of cutting of the job.

It seems like a dangerous and time consuming thing to have the operator search for all tool changes in a 10,000 line program to make sure the required tools have been installed in the tool holders.

We have experience with other software packages and this is something that we are used to with other systems.

Thermwood, can we please have this capability added in the next version of Control Nesting?

Barry,

After you create the code for your jobs click the Verify Tooling icon on the tool bar. It looks like a tool holder with a green check mark next to it. Or, press L,V. It will list all tools used in the job and where they should be located.

Sorry, I just realized this feature may be new and not available on the version of Super Control you are using. I'm not sure when it was added. It's a great feature.
