New style locator pins
Does anyone have the newer style flip up pins on the CS45? How do you like them? Do they bend like the old style? Ours on my 2006 CS45 are out of wack and I'm considering upgrading.

Ben something you may consider trying which I did is buying and fixing 4 small pneumatic pistons onto the edge of the table in the correct locations to serve as pop up pins.

Re: New style locator pins
Ben,
we have two CS45s. The first one came with the old pins are just plain useless and the newer machine came with the new style. The moment I saw the new style I knew we had to upgrade the older machine. I am not sure how much it cost us, best thing is to call your sales rep, but it made such a big difference. Now flip parts are machined accurately without the need to screw the G902 square to the waste-board. Thermwood can remove the old ones and put the new style so if the price is right for you go for it. It is one time fix only then you forget about it.

Re: New style locator pins
We have auto pop-up pins on our CS 43 and I can't imagine using the old style that I saw being used on a CS 41. These auto pins work tremendously well. With them being automated to come up and go down prior to the cutting process beginning this is a great advantage so as to not cut through the pins if the operator forgets to lower them.BenRatt wrote:Does anyone have the newer style flip up pins on the CS45? I don't find that our pins bend to any degree that I can see.BenRatt wrote: Do they bend like the old style? Ours on my 2006 CS45 are out of wack and I'm considering upgrading.

I'd also like to know a ballpark price to upgrade our CS40. That would be a timesaver.

Josh, here is what we did with our pins. The pistons are reused but an aluminum block was milled with a titanium pin to very close tolerance allowing for no wiggle room. My uncle is a machinist and made the items for us.
