I believe it has to be an LDF - Low Density Fibreboard and is not cheap. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Jason, Jason,

In another thread about this still another Jason, Susnjara stated that the table boards that come with the machines are 32 lb density and the waste boards are 48 lb density.

"Ultralight" or low density fiberboard for a spoilboard does not perform well with our vacuum and tends to hold more stress after it's machined (even on both sides) and so consequently is not a good choice. It also does not hold up well as a wasteboard. Premium (double refined) MDF as a spoilboard is the best choice, and regular or premium MDF for wasteboards has worked well.

Josh, would that be what some companies call a "door core" MDF, such as Ranger board? (referring to the spoil board, not the waste board)

Yes, Rangerboard is a great choice for a spoilboard. That is what I currently have and it also holds up better to wear which translates into less often machining of the spoilboard.
