cutting kerfcore

cutting kerfcore

has anybody ever cut kerfcore on their router. if so how did you hold it down, what bit, feed/ speed rate. thanks for your help Darren

Hi Darren,
Yes, it must be cut with the smooth face down so it holds down to the table, and I used standard MDF tooling. Nothing else special.

thanks Josh for the reply. when you say MDF tooling what tool is this. we were using a 3/8 compression bit. thanks again, Darren

Compression spiral for outlines and whatever other tools you need for dadoes, etc. Or if you are having hold-down issues, you can use a down cutter to outline but that pushes all the dust down into the wasteboard and does not extract well, so I will use a compression spiral as often as possible.

hold is another issue but we are thinking spraying laquar on the back to hopefully for a better hold down. thanks again for all you help, Darren
