M999 and spoilboard settings

Post by Gavin Armstrong »

I am getting ready glue an additional sheet of mdf onto my spoilboard to use as my new cutting surface. I am saving up for a vaccum pump but in the meantime I need to boost the thickness of my spoilboard. My machine is a thermwood c53 from 1997/8

Because of the additional height to the spoilboard I need to adjust this setting to account for the new distance between the automatic tool sensor and the spoilboard surface. I have created a blank program with the m999 code inserted then I block step into the macro. Just as a test I added 50mm to the value that defines the distance between the tool sensor and the spoilboard but when cutting the router does not appear to cut any higher? Is it possible that I need to run the tool sensor program before the new value is applied?

Many thanks
Gavin

Ok thanks forest.

So to run through the procedure,

1. Fit additional spoil board.
2. Roughly measure the distance from tool sensor up to the spoil board
3. Enter a new value for tool sensor to top of spoil board.
4. Run tool length program then fly cut with z height set to 0
5. If fly cut is still to high, then keep reducing spoil switch value until the cutter hits every area of the bed.

Does this sound ok?

Thanks again.
