Control Nesting 5.95 PSA FOR METRIC USERS

Post by Thomas strembitsky »

the new version does not convert your previous metric speeds into inches!

please check all setting and feed speeds unless you want to risk snapping bits and other potential issues

Thermwood could you please do a check if the control nesting is in metric and automatically convert the values to their imperial equivelant

Here is a picture of what the new setting box looks like right after I load the new control nesting 5.95. notice the insane speeds. i'm going to hold off until I have time to look through and manually convert all these to the proper inch equivalent or wait for thermwood to patch it so I don't have to.

Sorry for the confusion on this Thomas. We misspoke on this issue. Nothing has been altered for feed speed entries except for min feed rate in Settings. The problem that initially occurred was on a machine that is in Imperial and Control Nesting is in Metric. Min feed rate was not being obeyed. The rule for feed speeds in Control Nesting is that the values should always be entered in the same units as the machine and not what is set in Control Nesting. A bug existed for the mixed cases with min feed rate. We should not have put the in/mm designation on the entry boxes and this will be removed.

We are working on a release today to sort this out.

Larry,

Perhaps those "(in/min)" should not be removed per say.

Instead, perhaps they should reflect the MACHINE UNITS - as a reminder to the operator as to what unit type is expected. So if the machine is configured in IMPERIAL, then display "(in/min)" or if METRIC, then "(mm/min)".
