Howdy,
Long time follower, first time caller...
Ok, We have a C50 Model and it has a secondary tool holder... Tool 1 is the main spindle with collet, and the second one is merely a drill on an air cylinder. We recently upgraded our controller to Win7, and while the tech was here he set up the second unit within the system so the offsets are there...
There was an issue with our tool touch off in that the second tool could in no way be made to reach the tool touch off device, for auto tool length measurement. So we moved the touch off pad to a position that allows both tools to use the tool length pad and now I can use the auto touch off feature, to get the correct daylight.
Now comes the programming fun... Having never run both tools within the same program, I have no clue as to how Thermwood needs to see a tool change. I wrote a simple program using both tools and the way MasterCam posts it it seems the machine must home before being able to use the second tool. It faulted just after it completed the first tools movements, while trying to home. I am going to try a program with only the second tool to ensure that this will actually call the correct offsets and such.
Do I need a different post processor?
Honestly do not know what the machine is needing as far a s programming to make both tools work within one program.
Thanks

1 800 221 3865 best tech support in the business.
They also offer machine operator training classes.
Well worth the money, almost everyone on this forum, has 2 weeks of factory training to start.
I bought my machine used also, but still paid for the training. And even with the training is was a challenge.

Re: Model C50 with a second tool holder questions
Thanks for the tip...
We do not make cabinets, strange huh, we actually make windows. I have one job that needs holes drilled and slots machined in an aluminum frame. Both heads function independently and will do what I want as separate programs.
I just wish to run both heads within the same program and I am not able to find any examples of this being done.
I will call them..
We/I use MasterCam X9 and it might be our post processor, but it faulted with an error out once it went to use the second tool.
Thanks
