Aspire export/import

Post by Mark McCallum »

Hi Guys
We are just starting to use Aspire software.
Aspire has an export menu and we tried / selected the CS 45 NC from the drop down menu
This exports a NC file
Our machine is a CS 43 so I'm thinking its similar?
But the main question is how do we import this NC file into control nesting?

Also (sorry, still totally green)
I was experimenting with this to try and learn some answers over the weekend but being stopped by the first move, ...(Not being able to import the job)
I would appreciate if anyone has any insights on the tooling settings for export.

Thanks in advance

The .NC file created with Aspire is not imported into Control Nesting but is run from the Super Control like any .NC file. The post you selected will probably work. You may want to look at the .NC file you create to see that it does what you want. I modified a post slightly to get what I wanted.

As for the Aspire tooling, make sure the tool numbers in Aspire match the tool numbers on the Super Control. The tool diameter in Aspire must also match that setup in the Super Control. As far as I know, the tool groups in Aspire have no affect at the control.

Think of Aspire as a substitute for Control Nesting. The more I use programs like Aspire, the more I appreciate what Thermwood does for us with Control Nesting.

Everything Dave said and a little more information.

The post will be close for your machine, but it will get hung up at the beginning if you don't adjust the pop up pin output number. And remove the input call for pop up pins. Also there is no ZSHIFT in that post so you'll have to choose Machine Bed in material setup.

Thanks Guys.
All valuable advice!
Yes, OK, I didn't realise that you could load a file directly without using control nesting.

I may get back to this job in a day or so and hopefully I can get it to work.

Slowly getting the hang of it, but at the moment it feels like we are steering a Ferrari with handle bars.

Also as a note the posts for Aspire can be edited in Notepad. There are relatively easy to understand once you look at some code you've posted. Just be sure to make a copy of the post before you edit it in the event you break it too badly  .

Thanks for that Clint.
I haven't tried any code editing yet.
In fact, I was trying to steer away from even opening that book.
But that is good advice because I was thinking I would be able to do it in the machine controller.
Thanking you

You can edit the code at the controller, but the ideal scenario would be the post would output the correct information so you don't have to edit the code. The post itself is on your computer with Aspire so you will want to edit it there.

This is why we supply our Thermwood/Vectric client's here in Canada with a post processor for their specific machine. They end up cutting correctly right off the bat.

Hi Brad
That was why I ordered it with the machine and I thought that was going to happen.
Nevermind. It is what it is.
