Maybe a bug?

Post by Tommy Wieler »

Greetings...

I noticed that since the latest update, the controller will no longer complain if I start a program when there is no bit in the spindle. Well done!
However, whenever I start a program with no bit loaded, it will pick up the proper bit with no problem, but the router doesn't start. The head will move to the cutting location, then stop and give me a message that it's waiting for Z spindle to leave zero speed, which never happens.
Just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Thanks!

Tommy,

Do you have more specifics of how you ended up in this scenario?

- How did you unload the tool? Maintenance Tool Load/Unload or Changer Maintenance?
- Was the machine shut down between the time the tool was unloaded and the new program started?
- Was the machine homed at any point between tool unloaded and when file was run?

I've tried to get our machine out here to do it to no avail so I'll need some steps or scenario to try to reproduce it.

Sorry, I really need to remember to include more details when I'm posting...
Just tried it again, and was able to reproduce instantly. I'm running latest version of SuperControl. I nested a job, then did a maintenance tool unload. Started the program, it loaded the tool, "forgot" to start the router, moved out onto the table, then stopped with same error message as before.
Machine was not shut down or homed.

Tommy,

Thanks for the steps, got it to reproduce on a machine here. Had to find the right machine to do it as it isn't the case for all machines. For now avoid doing that  . If you want a safety net, in Control Nesting go to Settings, and in the Tool Change Pre/Post Macros you can add M3 in the Post Macros section. That will put an M3 after the tool call. That will make sure the tool gets the call to turn on. If you use groups you'll need to do this in each group.

Tommy,

This should be corrected for the latest THM release (10.3.4). Sorry for the delay in posting back.
