Tangency Factor

Post by David Hall »

What are the units of the tangency factor setting? degrees? Or is this just one of those settings you play with until you like the results?

I'm cutting parts where the curved outlines are made up of small line segments on a CS40 with a 5 x 10 table. Any experience on a good starting setting will be appreciated.

TIA

Hi Dave,

Our control manual states that:
G09F# Tangency Factor. F values are integers valid up to 40. Machine defaults to G09F1 upon power up. Ensure that if the tangency factor is changed in the program that the factor is returned to F1 at the end of the program.

Typically a value 1-8 is good. We recommend not to exceed a value of 8. By useing a value that is to large, this can cause adverse affects on cut in your attempt to smooth machine motion.

How tan fac affects control:
When the default setting, factor of 1 is active, the control causes machine to make complete stop at any non tangent transition. As you raise tan fac number, this causes machine not to stop at any not tangent connection or transition.

I hope this has been helpful.
