DXFs and grain direction

Post by Nick M Singer »

Anyone know how to get an item loaded as a DXF to obey grain direction requirements?

The grain on the dxf files follow the x axis of the drawing, so when you draw your dxf file in your cad system, you need to know how the grain will lay on the part and draw the piece so the grain is following the x axis. When you load the dxf into the Control Nesting software, it asks you to select a material. On the lower left side of the material box it has a check box for grain. If you check this option, it will lay out the dxf file so it's x axis follows the grain of the material on the machine's x axis. I hope this helps! :D

Ahh Daniel you beauty! I know all the other bits but no one told us that the grain follows the x axis in our DXFs. I will give this a shot. Ta mate!
