Puzzle Piece Wasteboard

Postby Greg Cannon » Sun, Oct 21 2007, 8:17PM

For what it's worth...
I haven't been able to find 5x10 material locally for wasteboard/spoilboard, but I have found 4x8 Ultralight MDF several places.

My solution: I copied the geometry from the \"puzzle piece face frame\" and created a DXF file that cuts and \"stitches\" together two 4x8 sheets into one 5x10 sheet.

It seems to work great and has the added advantage of allowing me to replace the corner most used for small parts independantly, if desired.

I found that a .25\" wasteboard had a tendency to curl after a few flycuts, so I flycut about .25\" off my spoilboard and now use .5\" (.471\" actually) material for the wasteboard. This allows me more flycuts to cleanup before I have to replace the wasteboard.

Rename the Outline layer to suit your material thickness.

The DXF files are attached. \"No warranty expressed or implied. :)\"
Enjoy.

That's a cool idea Greg. I'm using a 3/8\" wasteboard now and I think it works better than 1/4\".
