CN - Added sheet - label orientation problem

Post by David Hall »

Parts nested on added sheets are rotated 180 degrees when compared to parts cut from full sheets.

When labels are applied to the parts using the standard operator orientation, the labels are upside down. This creates problems and dumpster food when the parts have flip operations or the label has edgebanding instructions

It would be helpful for added sheets if either the parts were rotated to the "normal" orientation, or the numbers on the nest diagram were printed up-side-down... drawing the operator's attention to the unique labeling requirements.

Dave

David
Do you have a file you can send me with this example? I would like to test it here and see exactly what you are talking about.

The same thing happen to me over and over untill I have figure it out. If I load a full sheet I put my labels on the top left hand corner, then everything works right(the edging and the flip-ops). But if I add a sheet or sheets, and stick the label on the top left corner then it show the edging on the wrong side, you must put the label upside down then to corect it.

Justin,
Try nesting this cabinet on added sheet(s)

Apply labels using normal operator orientation. Run flip ops and edgebanding per labels.

Ship to customer.
Let him attempt to assemble.
Deal with angry phone call.
Rush order another $100 sheet of Cherry.
Recut parts, run flip ops, edgeband, package, ship.... for no charge in attempt to save relationship.

Repeat for blind dado drawer boxes.
Repeat for 0" tenon placement blind dados

:wall:

Thanks in advance for your prompt attention to this urgent matter.

Dave

Dave,

It looks like the flip operations are cutting correctly for parts from Added Sheet nests. The edgebanding picture on labels is the only problem. It is off by 180 degrees. We will get a fix out for this.

The drawer box issues have been resolved with the latest version of eCabinet Systems.

We will get some work scheduled to depict the clearance for blind dado operations where the inset values are set to zero.

Hi Larry,
Thanks for taking the time to check it out.
It appears our misguided work-around for the label edgebanding problem (rotate the labels 180 degrees) creates the flip-op non-problem.
My apologies for bad info.

Hi again Larry,

While you're in the label code, can you change the part name printed on the label for shelves, partitions, display panel, door, drawer face and stretchers to include the shelf/partition/stetcher... number as displayed on the load screen please?

When we need to recut a part it is often hit-or-miss to determine which shelf/partition/stretcher... we have in our hand, so we can select it on the load screen.
The differences between parts can be very subtle.

It wouldn't hurt having the number on the nest diagram too, for those times when we want to add the part to be recut to the last sheet of the job. i.e. create new code for the recut parts plus those not yet cut on the last sheet or two of the job.
